September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM), a time to recognize children and families impacted by childhood cancer. It is also a time to reflect on the importance of awareness, as this month shines a spotlight on their stories, courage, and the continued need for research and resources to create a brighter future. This month is a time to honor the families who face this journey, showing our support and standing with them through every challenge and celebration.
Throughout September, children and families share their stories to not only highlight the realities of childhood cancer but also inspire the continued drive to find a cure. Every story shared creates a powerful connection reminding us why this fight matters. These stories serve as a reminder of the resilience of children facing treatments, unwavering love of families navigating uncertainty, and the hope that surrounds them. For the THON™ community, these stories are at the heart of our mission. They serve as a constant reminder of why volunteers and supporters dedicate their time, energy, and resources to this cause. Every effort, from fundraising events to participating in THON Weekend is fueled by the courage and resilience of these children and their families.
CCAM reminds us of the strength and courage of children and families facing these challenges. Their stories inspire us to take action in our own lives. Every effort, big or small, helps show these families that they are not alone. Their bravery motivates us to keep working to fight for a future without childhood cancer.
To ensure that THON is able to donate 96 cents of every dollar raised to Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, we heavily rely on donor support. These donations provide us the resources to create endless memories for our Four Diamonds families & foster a deep love & connection to our mission for our volunteers through Pre-THON Events, alternative fundraisers, & THON Weekend.
