From December 19 through January 10, the THON™ community came together for the annual Season of Giving campaign. This campaign turned the holiday season into a powerful time of impact for children and families supported by Four Diamonds. With THON Weekend 2026 right around the corner, students, alumni, and supporters used this campaign to fundraise and spread awareness within the Penn State community and beyond.
Throughout the campaign, participants engaged in a wide range of initiatives designed to make giving accessible and exciting. The Give A Gift Initiative encouraged supporters to purchaseessential supplies through an Amazon registry. Social media also played a major role, with the Social Media Blizzard mobilizing participants to share THON’s mission across Instagram and Facebook, amplifying awareness far beyond campus.
A major highlight of the campaign was Matching Day on December 30. Donations were matched throughout the day, maximizing donor impact and energizing fundraising efforts. Committees, organizations, and IDCs rallied their networks, rewarding the committee that raised the most funds with vintage THON merchandise. Matching opportunities through DonorDrive and THON Nation made it easier than ever for supporters to contribute meaningfully.
The Season of Giving campaign also brought alumni into the spotlight through the Alumni Showdown, where participation during the campaign earned double points for the chance to be recognized at THON Weekend. Sporting event partnerships, lottery incentives, and THON Nation fundraising further strengthened the sense of community that defines THON. As the campaign came to a close on January 10, it served as a reminder that every gift plays a role in the fight against childhood cancer.
To ensure that THON is able to donate 96 cents of every dollar raised to Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, we heavily rely on donor support. These donations provide us the resources to create endless memories for our Four Diamonds families & foster a deep love & connection to our mission for our volunteers through Pre-THON Events, alternative fundraisers, & THON Weekend.
