Executive Director

Keegan Sobczak

  • Year: 5th Year
  • Hometown: Ponte Vedra Beach, FL
  • Major/Minor: Supply Chain and Information Systems
  • Why did you want to be a Director?: I wanted to become a director to increase my responsibility and be able to give more back to the organization that has provided me so much. I have been able to witness this organization grow just over the time I have been a student volunteer, and have been able to experience it from many different angles. I served as a committee member, captain, primary chair, dancer, and a director on the Executive Committee. Through these experiences, I have been able to have more interactions with our families and increase my understanding of how the organization operates. I am incredibly honored to serve as the Executive Director for THON 2025!
  • What reponsibilities do you have as the [position] Director for THON 2025?: As the Executive Director, I serve as the primary liaison between THON and all of its largest stakeholders. I maintain our relationship with the University, Four Diamonds, Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, and some of THON’s donors. I oversee the 16 directors of the Executive Committee and help drive collaboration across committees and develop growth-based initiatives.
  • What is your favorite THON memory?: My favorite THON memory is from this past THON Weekend 2024 during Dancers Stand. Getting to be on the stage and countdown the beginning of the 46-hours with the Executive Committee, knowing all the work it took to get to this point, while also knowing how much there is to be done for the weekend, was amazing to get to take in that moment of the spectators coming to represent their organization, dancers getting ready to embark on the most inspiring feat, and families getting ready to enjoy the weekend put on for them. For 10 seconds, I was able to take in the magic and beauty of THON and why I fell in love with it in the first place.
  • Favorite Quote: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
  • What are you involved in outside of THON?: For my 5th-year and this position, I am solely focused on THON.
  • What are your plans for after you graduate from Penn State?: I will be moving to Arlington, VA where I will work as a consultant for Deloitte.
