Supply Logistics Director

Benjamin Roitman

  • Year: 4th Year
  • Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
  • Major/Minor: Education and Public Policy
  • Why did you want to be a Director?: I wanted to be a Director primarily to be able to work more closely with the 15 other Committees and Four Diamonds. THON as an organization has given me so much and I in turn wanted to maximize the effort I give to furthering our mission and serving our families. Being a Director also allows me the opportunity to watch my 21 Captains grow into their positions and help to innovate our committee’s functions.
  • What responsibilities do you have as the [position] Director for THON 2025?: As the Supply Logistics Director, I oversee a group of 21 Captains that are responsible for the acquisition, storage, and distribution of all of THON’s In-Kind donations. SL reaches out to businesses serving the dual function of spreading THON’s mission and ensuring that THON can maintain our extraordinary fundraising efficiency. We are in charge of managing THON’s inventory sites and keep a focus on sustainability through our management and distribution practices. SL also runs many initiatives including the THON Raffle, the Gift Card Initiative, the On-Shift Shirt recollection, the Towel Drive, the Costume Drive, the Hershey Holiday Toy Drive, and Supply the Fight.
  • What is your favorite THON memory?: The first I would say is seeing kids on the stage using items from requests I fulfilled as an Inventory Liaison. The theme for SL 2024 was Supply Endless Memories, and that moment fully encapsulated to me what we set out to accomplish as a committee that year. The second moment that will always stick with me is also from THON Weekend 2024 and is the moment right before SL left the floor as a committee. We took a moment to just soak in all the work we had put in and how much the group meant to each of us. There were a lot of hugs and a lot of tears as we took the time to simply feel every emotion.
  • Favorite Quote: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” – Eleanor Roosevelt
  • What are you involved in outside of THON?: In the summer of 2023, I participated in the Penn State DC Social Justice Fellowship in collaboration with Georgetown Law. Through this experience I got the chance to teach in DC Public High School classrooms and develop a civic action plan to address an issue of my choosing.
  • What are your plans for after you graduate from Penn State?: I would love to one day be a High School teacher of American History and coach lacrosse at a Chicago Public High School.

Ready to Make a Difference?

To ensure that THON is able to donate 96 cents of every dollar raised to Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, we heavily rely on donor support. These donations provide us the resources to create endless memories for our Four Diamonds families & foster a deep love & connection to our mission for our volunteers through Pre-THON Events, alternative fundraisers, & THON Weekend.
