OUR BENEFICIARY
In 1977, THON partnered with our sole beneficiary, Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital. Since then, THON has raised more than $236 million for Four Diamonds and their efforts to conquer childhood cancer.
Four Diamonds offsets the cost of treatment that insurance does not cover, as well as expenses that may affect the welfare of the child.
Four Diamonds makes it possible for over 30 specialty care providers to be available exclusively to serve the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of our patients and their families.
Penn State Children's Hospital is a top-tier academic research hospital, and is a member of several elite research consortia, which unite oncologists across the country with the goal of finding a cure.
Four Diamonds was established by Charles and Irma Millard after their son, Christopher, passed away at the age of 14 after battling cancer for three years.
Christopher's story of a knight's quest for
courage, wisdom, honesty and strength
was the inspiration for the name Four Diamonds. Through Four Diamonds, Chris Millard and his legendary story of Sir Millard live on, and serve as a beacon of hope for children and their families fighting cancer.
