Andrea Hinkle

I’m now a Sr. UX/UI Designer leading a small team at an agency in Manhattan. I’m focused in e-commerce, specifically building intuitive, shoppable experiences for our clients to better their businesses. It’s been an adventure being in many different roles and companies throughout my career, and I’m now happily in a role that combines strategic thinking and creative output. I’m currently living in Brooklyn and loving all that New York City has to offer.

10 years ago feels like a lifetime, but whenever a fellow Alumni brings up THON, it holds a special place in my heart. I look back and remember how formative those years were as a whole. THON especially was a moment of true togetherness. I really felt like I was part of a big community in THON. That feeling of community is something I strive for in my life now.

I had been to THON the year prior as a part of Atlas, and the one thing that stuck in my memory was the diamond symbol being held up high by the dancers, kids, moralors, and almost everyone in the stands. It was a powerful visual, and made so much sense for the 2010 theme. Showing a subtle heart shape within the arms of a child who is showing the diamond symbol felt iconic for THON, and I believed it resonated with anyone who had ever been to the dance marathon. Love belongs with the kids and everyone that supports them through both their good days and tough days.

That big reveal at the very end! And seeing all the kids having a blast on stage with the dancers. The butterflies in my stomach were palpable before they revealed the final donation amount. It makes you realize the impact a collective whole can have for those in need.

To ensure that THON is able to donate 96 cents of every dollar raised to Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, we heavily rely on donor support. These donations provide us the resources to create endless memories for our Four Diamonds families & foster a deep love & connection to our mission for our volunteers through Pre-THON Events, alternative fundraisers, & THON Weekend.
