Bio

Sierra majored in Graphic Design and graduated in 2012. During her time at Penn State she was also involved in THON as a committee member for Rules & Regulation her junior year, and as a committee member for Public Relations her senior year as a photographer. She also had an internship at an advertising industry in Philadelphia the summer before her senior year. After graduating, she worked in the financial industry as a graphic designer. She is now a senior graphic designer at a clothing manufacturer and distributor focusing on web design, UI/UX, and branding.

How has designing a THON logo impacted you after graduation from Penn State?

Having my logo selected for THON 2012 is an amazing memory for me. It was a great experience to take the vision that the Executive Committee had for the theme, bring it to life and watch it grow from concept to production - which was a relevant transition to my professional career of bringing concepts to life.

What was your inspiration for your THON logo design?

It started with the theme, Brighten Every Journey. I thought about how THON kids would relate to the theme and focused on their perspective. I wanted to portray how they can shine the light for the rest of us by sharing strength, hope and joy. I chose to show multiple kids, hand-in-hand to represent that a journey can be brighter when we work together.

What is your favorite THON memory?

My favorite THON memory is when I was on the photography committee and got to be on the floor of the event. Seeing everyone wearing shirts that had my logo on them was surreal, as was experiencing first-hand the camaraderie, hope, and community support that I pictured when I first designed the logo.
