Alumni Engagement Director

Kristen Donahoe

  • Year: Rising Senior
  • Hometown: Gibsonia, PA
  • Major: Psychology
  • Minors: Human Development & Family Studies, Rehabilitation & Human Services
  • Why did you want to be a Director?: I wanted to be a THON Director to give back to an organization that has completely changed my life and the lives of so many. Since my Freshman year, I have seen the absolute magic that takes place when a group of people come together for a cause much larger than themselves. This community is the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed. I wanted to be a member of the Executive Committee to gain a more holistic perspective of the organization and dedicate all my efforts to supporting our Four Diamonds Families. Being a Director is an absolute honor and I could not think of a better way to conclude my time at Penn State!
  • What responsibilities do you have as the [position] Director for THON 2025?: As the Alumni Engagement Director, I serve as the primary liaison between THON and our largest stakeholder group: our 25,000+ alumni supporters. I work closely with the Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group, the Penn State Alumni Association, and alumni chapters and groups nationwide to further the idea that the fight to end childhood cancer extends far beyond our four years at Penn State. Throughout the year, the Alumni Engagement Committee creates interactive campaigns that target alumni to ensure they feel supported and included in our efforts. We also focus on spreading the mission of THON on a large scale by targeting groups who may not know about THON. Finally, I work on professional development opportunities for current THON Volunteers to ensure they are prepared to take on their next steps post-graduation and continue their involvement with THON.
  • What is your favorite THON memory?: My favorite THON memory is taking in the Final Four hours of THON 2024 standing alongside my co-captains. The atmosphere during this time was absolutely incredible, and it served as a moment of reflection and pride for the THON Community.
  • Favorite Quote: “Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier” – Mother Teresa
  • What are you involved in outside of THON?: I am also involved in the Student Alumni Corps, Lion Ambassadors. Last year, I served on the Executive Board as the Secretary, and I am currently a chair for our first-year students orientation event, Be a Part from the Start.
  • What are your plans for after you graduate from Penn State?: Post graduation, I plan on getting my Masters Degree in Business Administration and pursuing a career in Human Resources.

Ready to Make a Difference?

To ensure that THON is able to donate 96 cents of every dollar raised to Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, we heavily rely on donor support. These donations provide us the resources to create endless memories for our Four Diamonds families & foster a deep love & connection to our mission for our volunteers through Pre-THON Events, alternative fundraisers, & THON Weekend.
