Emilie Chiofalo, a junior studying architecture is dancing in THON™ 2024 for the American Institute of Architecture students (AIAS). She is also a member of the Schreyer Honors College.

Q: Why did you want to THON?

A: “It’s an honor to dance. I really love the architecture community; I’m in AIAS, Alpha Rho Chi, which is our professional architecture fraternity. I’m very involved in the Arts and Architecture College. I’m a tour guide, and I’m also in NOMAS, which is the National Organization for Minority Architects. I’m here to represent the entire architecture community. I’ve been in THON since my first year here – I’m actually a senior standing student but in my third year – and I’ve been involved with different groups each year. I’m really proud.”

Q: As of now, what is your favorite memory from any THON you’ve attended?

A: “When I was standing with Atlas my first THON – since my freshman year was COVID – one of the parents actually came up to us and basically told us, ‘Thank you for doing this for us, you have no idea how much that means to us.’ I was so moved; it was my first year in the BJC, and I didn’t know anything about anything, so to hear that from parents just makes me feel so loved and appreciated. I appreciate them so much.”

Q: What is your favorite moment from this THON specifically?

A: “I think so far, my favorite moment has been having my friends come with their digital floor passes. I love having so much support.”

Q: Anything else you want to share?

A: “THON is amazing. I think it’s so beautiful that the entire school comes together to fight pediatric cancer. There’s 50,000 of us, and we pretty much turn it into a competition to see who can raise the most money. It turns the regular, competitive college experience into an amazing cause.”

Throughout the weekend, Emilie has been smiling and cheerful. Her energy was incredible and infectious to be around. At the time of this interview, she was looking forward to spending time with her friends, along with the Pep Rally. Emilie truly embodies what it means to be a THON dancer.
