Eclipse is a Special Interest Organization devoted to fundraising for THON and supporting families. While the organization’s main focus is centered around THON-related efforts, they also create an incredible member experience through social events such as hiking Mount Nittany and playing broomball in Pegula.

Eclipse’s typical methods of fundraising include bake sales, sticker fundraisers, scavenger hunts, DonorDrive, THONvelopes, and more. However, Eclipse President Ryan Kelleher described how the org had to get creative during the COVID-19 pandemic:

“Some of our favorite new fundraisers/events include a tie-dye T-Shirt fundraiser, and small-group game nights. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we were lucky enough to enjoy fun Zoom activities and safe outdoor activities as well. Even despite the difficulty with the pandemic, the org was able to maintain a fun, family-like atmosphere.”

Eclipse is paired with the Jeremiah Reedy Family, and together they have shared many special moments. Eclipse’s Family Relations Chair, Andres Montero, achieved remission on April 16, 2020, and shares a close bond with the family.

“During THON Weekend last year, we were lucky enough to share fun Zoom memories with the Reedy Family, talking to Jeremiah and getting to see his excitement talking about anything and everything was so fun,” Ryan explained, “Another special moment that Eclipse had this past year was going out to our THON family, the Reedy’s, house this past November to have a fun outdoor cookout with burgers, hotdogs, smores, and more! Getting to spend time with Jeremiah and his family was amazing, the connection that Eclipse had with the Reedy Family is unmatchable and we love them so much.

Despite the org’s recent founding in 2016, Eclipse was the #1 fundraising Special Interest Org at THON 2020! If you’d like to support Eclipse’s DonorDrive, click here
