Supply Logistics is beginning a new initiative this year to collect items that are commonly used during THON Weekend but you may not need them anymore. These will then be sold at a low price to THON volunteers who may need these items. Ideas include fanny packs, bandanas, tutus, plain colored t-shirts, water guns, tennis balls, etc., but many items will be accepted! Collection will occur after January 10th. Items can be dropped off or sent to the THON Office (227D HUB, University Park, PA 16801). Please consider looking for extra items at home!
Tune into the Alumni TeleTHON on Thursday, February 3rd from 7 PM – 9 PM! This is a live stream event featuring a variety of impactful alumni as well as live performances from Penn State students. We will be announcing the winners of Alumni Wars at this event. This will also coincide with an alumni matching day, where some donations throughout the day and during the teleTHON will be matched up to a certain amount. Stay tuned for more details!
Share Your Story
Throughout the year, the THON Public Relations Committee is committed to sharing the stories and unique experiences of members of the THON Community. “Share Your Story” is an initiative that collects stories that feature various aspects of our organization. All stories are welcomed and appreciated and can lead to potential media opportunities. As outstanding Penn State alumni and former THON Volunteers, and we would love if you would share your story with us – whether it be a favorite memory, how you were involved in THON or any part of your THON journey that you would like to share. Please share what you are comfortable with using this form. Thank you!
Supply The Fight
The Supply the Fight initiative is a collection drive for supplies that are crucial to THON’s success but are often hard to obtain. The THON community is encouraged to donate items found on the THON 2022 Supply the Fight registry. You can purchase directly from the registry or bring the items to the THON Office (227D HUB). Donations can be credited to an org, IDC, committee, alumni, or Commonwealth Campus. Your donations help reduce internal costs to ensure that 96 cents of every dollar fundraised directly benefits the families and THON’s mission. For more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org or visit https://thon.org/supply-our-mission-supply-the-fight/.
Alumni WarAlumni Wars is a new campaign starting the first week of January and running until the two weeks before THON! The purpose of the campaign is to get alumni involved in aspects of THON that they may not have had previous exposure to. Alumni can participate in Alumni Wars by working in groups from their collegiate organization or participate individually. Registration is encouraged, so please fill out this form if you wish to join a group. Please see our Alumni Wars Resource Packet for additional information, and feel free to reach out to email@example.com with any questions!
As THON Weekend approaches, the Hospitality Committee could use your help! This registry helps the Hospitality Committee stock snack shacks for families and dancers THON Weekend. Upon checkout, please make sure that the shipping address is set for the THON Office at 227D HUB, University Park, PA 16802. Thank you so much!
Hope From Coast to Coast
The sixth annual Hope From Coast to Coast presented by the Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group is live! Hope From Coast to Coast is a relay from Penn State Health Children’s Hospital in Hershey to the Bryce Jordan Center on the Thursday and Friday leading up to THON Weekend. Each participant will run three legs of 3-5 mile increments, carrying letters for the dancers from children at the hospital. The top 15 fundraising individuals will be selected for the team on January 23. In-person participants can join the “In-Person Participants” team to start fundraising today!
Supporters from around the world can participate in the Hope From Coast to Coast Virtual 46-day Challenge. As a community, Hope From Coast to Coast is setting a goal to collectively run or walk 3,000 miles in the 46 days leading up to THON Weekend (the average distance from coast to coast). Additionally, every participant is challenged to run or walk 135 miles in these 46 days, the same distance as the in-person relay from Penn State Children’s Hospital in Hershey to the Bryce Jordan Center.
