Garret Cwalina is a senior and member of the Professional Golf Management program at Penn State. Garret is dancing in Florida where his golf internship has him located for the semester.

Garret got involved in THON his sophomore year of high school where he participated in Mini THON for three years before attending Penn State. He had always known what THON about because his older sisters participated in years passed. This weekend, his family is giving him all the support he needs. His sisters who participated in THON are there to root him on, as well as his nephew who has fought childhood cancer.

THON means a lot to Garret. His nephew is a childhood cancer survivor. Garret and his family have seen firsthand what Four Diamond Families go through. He sees THON giving kids opportunities they never thought they would get. Garret THON’S for his nephew and anyone who goes through what his family went through.

Garret believes Rise and Unify fits THON 2021 well because our community had to adapt and overcome the challenges of the pandemic together. He thinks the THON community unification was stronger than ever this year. This may not be a normal year for the dancers but Garret is doing what he can to spread awareness of childhood cancer.
