THON™ Men’s Basketball Game – January 29, 2023
by Molly Ligon

The annual THON Men’s Basketball game is tipping-off on Sunday, January 29th at 12 p.m. against Michigan. Known as THOOPS, the event is a great way to support Penn State Basketball, while also getting to engage and interact with Four Diamonds families.

Teresa Mackey, Athletics Coordinator Captain, explained why attending THOOPS is a great opportunity for Penn State students.

“Students should attend the THON Hoops game because it is a great way to support both the men’s basketball team in their Big 10 matchup against Michigan and THON’s mission,” Teresa said. “Students will also receive free THOOPs t-shirts at the game and have the opportunity to credit a portion of their ticket to any organization or IDCs fundraising total for THON 2023.”

Teresa said she’s most looking forward to spending the game with Four Diamonds families and giving them a day to relax and have fun.

“I am so grateful to be in a position where I can have a role in planning events that give families the opportunity to create memories with the Penn State community, no matter where they may be in their THON journey,” Teresa said.

Continuing to look back on her time in the role, she has loved being able to plan this specific event and can’t wait to see her work become a reality on January 29th

“This event has been really fun to coordinate alongside my director, Will, and Penn State Athletics,” Teresa said. “We began working on planning this game over the summer, so it has been very exciting to see everything finally come to life. I have had a great experience working with athletics and many other THON volunteers, down to the small details that make this event possible. I can’t wait to see everyone pack the BJC to enjoy the game with friends!”
