Students - Chair Resources - THON Chair Survival Checklist

Are you unsure of what your responsibilities are as your organization’s THON Chair? We’re here to help! Listed below are some of the most important things you can do this upcoming year to succeed as a THON Chair.

Attend all THON Chair Workshops. At these workshops, you will learn about what to expect this year as a THON Chair and some useful information to help you have the most successful year possible!

  • Plan your fundraising activities well in advance. This means finding drivers, hosts, and permits for canning trips well in advance, and collecting names and addresses for your letter writing campaign well before you intend to send your letters.
  • Share inspirational family stories at your organization’s meetings. These stories will motivate your members by connecting them to THON’s cause, and showing them they are making a difference.
  • Meet with your Communications and Donor and Alumni Liaisons. Your organization’s liaisons can provide you with useful information, help you develop a fundraising strategy for your organization, and answer any questions you have.
  • Order THON Gear for your organization through licensed THON vendors.
  • Read the THON Chair Newsletter that you receive via email. The newsletter contains information that is pertinent to your organization.
  • Communicate THON dates, rules, and other information at your organization’s meetings.
  • Review the THON Rulebook. It is your responsibility to know and communicate important rules and guidelines to your organization.
  • Attend the Adopt-A-Family Workshop. You will learn about how your organization can “adopt” a Four Diamonds Family.
  • Make sure you thank your organization’s members for their efforts and support!
  • Visit THON.org frequently for updates!
