Morale

The role of the Morale Captains is a job that spans the entire year. They are the ones who get to spread THON love and energy by promoting different events and keeping up the spirit of the THON community. Represented by the color YELLOW, these captains work with their committees during the year to prepare for THON weekend. They will create different events during the year for dancer's to participate in, whether it is The WALK, Dancer Storage, Mail Call, Theme Hours, Random Events, or The Line Dance. The captains and their committees are dedicated to the dancers, doing anything within their power, so that each of the dancers will make it the 46 hours.

Administrative Assistant / Special Events Liaison (1) –

The Administrative Assistant and Special Events Liaison is responsible for taking minutes for the weekly Overall Morale Committee Meetings. They are to maintain the Angel website where minutes and bullet points are posted. They are also responsible for keeping contact between the Overall Morale Committee and the Special Events committee for such events like the THON Family Carnival, THON 5k, and any other event. They also work with Donor Relations to coordinate morale's fundraising efforts through the THONvelope system. They will also assist the Morale Overall with their duties.

CCSG Liaison (1)–

The Council of Commonwealth Student Governments Liaison is in charge of being the link between Morale and CCSG. They are responsible for bringing Morale to all of the campuses by helping plan and execute a Theme Hour during THON weekend. They are also in charge of knowing what CCSG is about and involving them as much as possible with Morale related events. They will work closely with the Communications Captains involved in CCSG.

Color Wars Coordinator (1)–

The Color Wars Coordinator is responsible for the organization, publicity, and creativity of all things Color Wars, both pre-THON and THON weekend. The coordinator with be in charge of planning a color wars theme, color wars kick-off, a color-wars grand finale, and making sure that it is effective for the dancers all of THON weekend.

Dancer Relations / Technology Liaison (1) -

This person is responsible for making sure Dancers are going to be physically and emotionally ready for THON weekend by hosting a dancer focus group, creating and distributing a Dancer Survival Guide, and matching every dancer with a morale team so every dancer has a moraler for THON weekend. This Morale Captain is also in charge of working with the Logistics/Timeline Captain to help with the Overlapping Moraler System. He or she will also work with Technology captains to fulfill any needs and information that needs to be updated with thon.org.

Dancer Storage (2) –

The Dancer Storage captains have the task of making the storage areas for all 700+ dancers as comfortable and enjoyable as possible that will give the dancers a chance to get off the floor while still being entertained. They will be responsible for all of the logistics, organization, and activities in the storage areas along with creating decorations and a theme.

Entertainment (1)–

The Entertainment Liaison is in charge of working with the Morale Liaison from Entertainment to help coordinate events that will affect both Morale and Entertainment. They will also keep Morale informed on Entertainment’s decisions and help them always keep the dancer’s best interest in mind and keep Entertainment informed on Morale’s decisions. Communication is very important because both Entertainment and Morale are making decisions that will affect the dancers. They will also work closely with Larry Moore to help the Morale Captains create events and make them effective in the BJC. This includes collecting and editing all power points, minute by minutes, and scripts that will be used during THON weekend.

Entertainment/Production (1)–

Will be in charge of overseeing and if applicable, creating all of the videos for Morale both Pre-THON and THON weekend. These videos include the WALK video, the Color Wars Video, and any other videos that morale might need. Plus, they will work collaboratively with the production captains from Entertainment and Line Dance Coordinator to help with the Line Dance Video. Final Cut Pro experience is wanted, but not necessary for the position.

Family Relations Liaison (1)-

The role of the Family Relations Liaison is to work closely with the Overall Family Relations committee to ensure that everything Morale does during THON weekend is completely kid friendly. They will work with all members of the OMC to make sure that all morale's theme hours, random events, and other major events (Line Dance, WALK, and Mail Call) are events that the families can be involved in as well as the dancers. This individual is also responsible for organizing a Morale event to try and interact the families along with the dancers. This liaison is also responsible for scheduling of Hershey Tours and Special Visitor's trips for the Overall Morale Committee. This Captain Will be in charge of one Random Event.

Intra-Committee Liaison (1)–

This Liaison is in charge of bringing Morale to Morale. They are responsible for planning retreats for the Overall Morale Committee and challenge the spirit level of Morale so that it is always at its best. This individual is also responsible for going to other Overall Committee meetings and other THON supporters to let them know how much we appreciate how much they do as captains and overalls, whether it be OPP, R&R, Hospitality, Barry Bram, Larry Moore, and other THON supporters. Another responsibility of theirs is to help design and organize all of the Overall Morale Committee’s gear for Pre-THON and THON weekend. They are also in charge of the Happy Quarters for the OMC.

Line Dance Coordinator (1)–

The role of the Line Dance Coordinator is to do just that: Coordinate the Line Dance. This Captain is in charge of facilitating and brainstorming with the OMC, coordinating the music selection process, and working with Josh and Larry Moore to understand beats and movement. These steps lead up to the Line Dance Retreat. With the aid of the Intra-Committee Liaison, this Captain is responsible for coordinating the Line Dance Retreat. After the retreat, this individual works with Larry to run Line Dance practices in the spring to teach the line dance to the OMC, the Overall THON Committee, all Captains, and committee members. This individual is also responsible for teaching the Line Dance THON weekend.

Logistics/Timeline (1)–

The Logistics / Timeline Liaison is responsible for meeting with the Timeline Captain and the Morale Liaison from the Entertainment Committee to schedule all of the Morale theme hours, random events, and large events (Line dance, WALK, Mail Call). They will also help to coordinate committee shifts as well as dancer storage shifts for Moralers. They will attend weekly meetings alongside the Morale Overall to coordinate with other committees the schedule of THON weekend.

Mail Call (2)–

The role of the two Mail Call Captains is to collect, sort, and organize all dancer, captain, and overall mail. These Captains also publicize Mail Call and the process of sending mail for THON weekend, distribute the mail during THON weekend, and work on post-THON mail distribution. These Captains also work on building relationships with Don the Mail guy, Mike the Mailman, and Barb from the HUB. During the year they are also in charge of the THON love box to help spread love and appreciation within the THON community.

OPP/R&R Liaison (1)–

The responsibility of the OPP/R&R is to work with all of the respective liaisons to fulfill the needs of both Morale and the respective committee. They would work with the OPP liaison in order to fulfill construction requests, floor plans for each Morale event, enforcement of the BJC rules, and any other tasks required by OPP. They will work with Rules and Regulations in order to protect the BJC in places like the mezzanine level for the WALK and also be able to communicate during the weekend to ensure capacity issues. During the year they will create effective relationships with between the committees.

SL/HOS Liaison (1)-

The role of the Supply & Logistics / Hospitality Liaison is to work with their liaison counterparts to request ALL the needs that morale requires. This individual will educate the OMC on how to request needs for the numerous events Morale runs. They will help categorize the importance of every Morale request and see to it that the most important items are obtained. This individual works very closely with everyone on the OMC, especially the WALK as they require the most needs. This position has responsibilities that are Pre-THON, THON Weekend, and Post-THON.

WALK (3)–

The role of the three WALK Captains is to create the magical, mystical world known as the WALK, while still protecting the integrity of the upper levels of the Bryce Jordan Center. These individuals are responsible for coming up with a theme, requesting the needs, constructing the smaller projects (OPP can take care of the bigger construction requests), and promoting and coordinating three WALK’s during THON weekend: One for the kids, and two for the dancers. These Captains will also oversee their moralers with the planning, preparation, and presentation of the WALK both Pre-THON and THON weekend. They will work very closely with each other, along with others on the OMC.

Yellow Shirt Relations (1)-

The role of the Yellow Shirt Liaison is to help all of Morale reach their fullest potential as moralers through different projects during the year. These projects include Yellow Shirt Orientation, All Morale Pow Wow, and the Yellow Shirt Survival Guide. These events and projects are Pre-THON and are aimed to make sure that during THON weekend moralers are prepared to take care of their dancers.
