Merchandise

THON 2009 will be the Merchandise Committee’s second year! Merchandise has evolved out of the need for a committee dedicated solely to selling THON products. The committee's responsibilities include running the THON store, handling all licensing issues for THON products, ordering/distributing all THON apparel, and maintaining the concession stands in the BJC during THON weekend. The Merchandise committee will work to increase the efficiency of the THON store, enhance customer service, and develop new and creative avenues to raise more money For The Kids!

Administrative Assistant (1)

This person must be highly motivated and flexible. They will serve as right hand to the Overall as well as the liaison to all other committees. They will be responsible for creating the master Merchandise timeline. They will be in close contact with the Donor Relations, Supply Logistics, and Finance committees and will be responsible for taking the meeting minutes and compiling/sending committee reminders and updates.

* Requests all petty cash/credit card machines from Finance
* Responsible for benefiting with DR and SL (make sure logo t-shirts are ordered)

Customer Satisfaction (2)

These captains must be patient, friendly, and diligent. They will be responsible for maintaining the THON Store g-mail account and answering customer questions through phone or e-mail. They will serve as the customer contacts and will also coordinate all exchanges as well as the exchange schedule with the other Merchandise captains.

Marketing (2)

These captains must be both attentive to detail and creative. They will be responsible for creating and maintaining customer databases based upon certain demographic criteria. They will also be responsible for developing marketing strategies aimed at the individual demographics that emerge from the databases.

Graphic Design/Product Development (2)

These captains must be both creative and artistic. They will be responsible for developing new product designs for THON Store merchandise. They will also be responsible for creating the designs for the committee’s clothing needs through out the year. They must be willing and able to work with our five licensed vendors.

Licensing (1)

This person must be attentive to detail, organized, and creative. This captain will oversee all t-shirt designs prior to designs being sent through Penn State Licensing to ensure that the name and logo of Penn State Dance Marathon is protected. They will also be the contact for any committee or organization needing assistance in creating their own t-shirt designs.

Sale Management (2)

These two captains must be very attentive to detail and will be concerned with the logistics of THON Store sales. They will coordinate all HUB Sales including set up/tear down, work schedules, store layout, payment options, and product availability. They will be responsible for the inventory at set up and tear down of the store at all events.

Special Projects (2)

This captain must be highly motivated, organized, and creative. They will be responsible for all new projects that will develop new and creative avenues to raise more money For The Kids! They will also be responsible for two already existing special products including igive and Joe Pa Prints.

Distribution/Committee Relations (2)

These captains must be organized and outgoing. They will be responsible for coordinating the ordering and distribution of all 5K, 100 Days, and THON Weekend t-shirts. They will also be responsible for coordinating concession training and concessions for THON weekend. They will be the Bryce Jordan Center contact.

Technology (2)

These captains are recommended to have some technology knowledge; however, it is not required. They will be responsible for uploading all pictures and products and for making all online changes and additions to the THON Store. They will need to determine and request all Tech needs for events as well as serve as the liaisons to the technology committee.

THON Store (3)

These captains must be both highly organized and motivated. They will be responsible for maintaining the THON Store inventory, maintaining the packaging supply inventory, alerting the overall when a re-order point is reached, and organizing the product storage area. They will also coordinate the schedule for filling orders.
