The Capeless Crusaders Took over Family Carnival

This theme of this year’s theme Family Carnival was Capeless Crusaders: Heroes of Every Kind. This theme encompasses all of the individuals that inspire us every day, most importantly the kids.

The families arrived through the human tunnel, greeted by Captains cheering them the whole way through. They made their way to the gym, which was fully decorated with every kind of hero you could imagine, from super heroes to policemen.

The committees paired up to create booths for the kids, all revolving around the Heroes theme. There was an obstacle course, vertical jump station, face-in-the-hole pictures and crafts of all kinds.

“Seeing all the kids and everyone having a great time was the best,” Mike Uhas, a Special Events Captain said. “Everything we had planned come together for an event like this really shows the hard work from every Committee.”

After the booths were cleaned up, there were performances by the step team, the cheerleaders and Lionettes, Orchesis, and the Singing Lions, building the suspense for the THON 2013 logo reveal. The Overall Committee took the stage and unveiled the logo for Inspire Tomorrow’s Miracles. At this time, the Merch Captains also took out hundred of shirts with the new logo and a long line began to form for the new gear.

“Everything just revolved around the theme 'Heroes' which helps everyone just remember why we do this,” Meghan Duffy, a Special Events Captain said. “It just gets everyone excited for February!”
